About

Pop superstar and one of the finest songwriters of his generation

Sting leapt to international superstardom in the late 70s and early 80s as the frontman of new wave rockers The Police. With their muscular, radio-ready, reggae-flecked songs, the trio lodged themselves firmly in the upper echelons of the charts with hits including ‘Can’t Stand Losing’, ‘Don’t Stand So Close To Me’, ‘Message In A Bottle’, ‘So Lonely’ and ‘Roxanne’.

The band went on indefinite hiatus in the mid-80s and Sting struck out on his own, landing an instant hit with his first solo album The Dream Of The Blue Turtles. Over the course of the 80s and 90s, he released a string of hugely successful and critically acclaimed records including Nothing Like The Sun and the massive Ten Summoners Tales, and hit singles such as ‘All For One’, ‘Fields Of Gold’, ‘Englishman In New York’ and ‘Desert Rose’. In 2018, he collaborated with reggae pop star Shaggy on the album 44/876 before revisiting some of his most famous songs on the collection My Songs in 2019.

Over his 40-plus years in music, Sting has sold over 100 million records and amassed an incredible 18 Grammys, seven Ivor Novello Awards, an Emmy, a Golden Globe, four Oscar nominations and one Tony nomination. He’s been renowned for his activism – setting up the Rainforest Fund and working on behalf of Amnesty and Live Aid – and has acted in films including Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Dune and Quadrophenia.

In 2024 Sting launched his STING 3.0 World Tour, including a huge headline show at Lincoln Castle in summer 2025.

  • Totally Exceeded my Expectations

by Harry Headlights on 25/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

Booked for my wife her favourite artist as a surprise. Don't get me wrong I rate Sting as well. Travel to venue was easy on a Sunday evening, parking was straight forward. Had never been to Sherwood Pines before, it is a beautiful venue. Initially thought I was under prepared when I saw everyone bringing all sorts with them. Needn't have worried, got to the front in the mosh pit (which was pretty civilised) and waited for the main event. The two support bands were very good particularly Storry. Sting came on at 8.45 to Message in a Bottle which sent a shiver down my spine, the whole evening was absolutely brilliant, one of the best concerts I have ever been to, even the weather turned up. Finally it is a bit of a chore getting out of the car park which took about an hour, no problem as I had mentally prepared for it!

  • Sting in Belfast

by Stevie on 25/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

Travelled across from Edinburgh for my first visit to Belfast to see the legend that is Sting at Ormeau Park ably supported by Blondie and a young Aussie sister group Germein. The venue itself was very well organised with plenty of food and drink available and friendly enough staff. The park held about 25,000 and the place was crammed by the time Sting came on just after 9pm. I've seen Sting many times before and he never disappoints and this was yet another well paced selection of his greatest hits which the audience responded to enthusiastically. His new 3.0 band is a throwback to The Police and the show was all the better for it. His voice still holds up remarkably well and he easily looks 15 years younger. All in all a truly memorable day and I'm already looking forward to my next Sting hit in September in Preston. A definite 5 star show.

  • Average

by Gloria on 25/06/2024Rating: 2 out of 5

Really average nothing special. We went for a walk before the concert and this was our highlight. The forest is beautifull. Sting was average ... this tour sounds like a money making machine.... these big boys would need to stop at some point to remain the legend...

  • Fantastic!

    by Helen M on 24/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

The event was very well organised. The VIP area made it very relaxed and not too crowded. Sting was magnificent of course, as were the support bands. The whole day went far too quickly! Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves

  • Brilliant

by CMP on 24/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

Organisation was very good, just enough choice of food and drink - too much can be overwhelming. Support Acts were good, nice to see new musicians. Sting was brilliant. A Police like band produced an excellent sound and his distinctive voice sounds as good as ever. Very poignant lyrics, he was way ahead of his time. Desert Rose was fantastic and finishing with Fragile was as thought provoking as he intended.

  • Rock Legend…..

Sting is an amazing performer and what a great performance he gave. Being out in the Forest on such a great evening just added to the whole experience. Hope he comes to Sherwood Pines again.

  • A review of 2 halves

by BB Bash on 24/06/2024Rating: 4 out of 5

Arrival and getting parked and set up was fine. We took note of the 1 litre limit per person, but no one checked bags and we are sure people took in more. Anyway the music was great, Sting was fantastic 10/10. The weather helped. Now to the bad bit - cars were parked everywhere and getting out was a nightmare. You expect to queue but there was no direction in the actual parking areas at all so several different queues happened. Tempers were fraying but eventually after an hour we made it to the entrance road. I am sure others were still trying to get out an hour or so later. If only that could be sorted (manned properly).

  • Cracking Gig

by Gandalf on 24/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

Sting still as powerful and much better than in his youth, he smiled all the way through the gig and you knew he was enjoying his music. He is a talented man and as my first time seeing him live, I am impressed by his enthusiasm, energy and willingness to play his hits in a different format. pleasant surprise

  • Sting 3.0

by Birminghamcouple on 24/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

Sting 3.0 at Sherwood Pines was incredible. What a great venue amongst the forest and the sound quality was awesome. This has got to be the best outdoor event we have been to. The accessibility facilities was second to none. There was a wide range of food and friendly venue staff too. The organisation of the event was first class. Thank you Forestry Live.

  • Brilliant as usual

Sting was very slick. Note perfect. Engaging. Second time I have seen him. Brilliant musicians with him. First class.

  • Sting at Sherwood Pines... Fantastic

by Maidmarianuk on 24/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

I will start with Sherwoid Pines itself, as a venue, very well organized parking system, buses organized to get there. Lots of stewards on hand to help. The food and drink was extortionate, though we were able to take in some drinks and a picnic, which helped. The warm up .. Storry, excellent voice, Germaine Sisters were great. The main man, Sting, was fantastic, playing a nice mix of new and old songs and getting the crowd singing. Fantastic gig, helped by warm dry weather. Sherwood Pines is a wonderful venue.

  • Unbelievable

Watched Sting last night in the beautiful magical Sherwood Forest , It was absolutely fantastic!!

  • Forest fest

by Min on 24/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

Was lovely walking from the drop off point to the stage area; beautiful trees and just bird song until I started to hear music. A lot of people on picnic blankets or camping chairs. The VIP area was great; fab view even though we only arrived about 45 minutes before the main act. No queues to the loos or to get drink and food. Would definitely go to Sherwood Pines again and felt Sting was a perfect act for this setting. We left just before the encore and drove straight out. Can't comment on queues to get out after the gig

  • Absolutely fantastic it was like stepping back in time

by Sting the legend on 24/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

  • A Masterclass from the Master

by JK on 24/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

Pure class that a 3 piece band could deliver something as good as that. Amazing evening 👌

  • All round brilliant

by FranH on 24/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

Sting was brilliant, performed a mixture of Police hits and his solo music. In fantastic shape voice and body. Support bands Girl Band and Germein Sisters very good too. Venue was excellent, easy parking and arena not too crowded.

  • Brilliant Gig!

by Suffolk Local on 24/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

Sting was as incredible as he always is. I loved the stripped back nature of the production with just three musicians on stage. Excellent performances from musical masters. The only negative was the car park exit debacle. Terrible traffic management within the car parks slowing traffic flows down - and an unhelpful no right turn on exit from the forest road, even though there was no traffic coming on the left. It took two hours to leave..

  • A great Evening with Sting

by Dave Mitchell on 24/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

A great evening in Thetford Forest, Sting was excellent, I've never seen him live before and his voice and energy certainly didn't disappoint. Venue is good, weather was spot on, worth bringing a seat if you get there early, lots to eat and drink although lots of people had brought their own. Portaloos a plenty :-)

  • Fantastic , memorable , pure quality from Mr Cool

by Ossie on 23/06/2024Rating: 5 out of 5

Amazing . The atmosphere , crowd who knew every song . The venue in a forest on a dry evening was perfect . Sound , singing , visuals stunning . Sting still has style in abundance.
