The Swedish DJ announces summer show at Cardiff Castle
Eric Prydz made a name for himself in the early 2000s with the galvanising track ‘Call On Me’ – and its famously raunchy music video – before unleashing a legion of euphoric house hits such as ‘Pjanoo’ and ‘Opus’.
Repurposing the hook from Steve Winward’s 1982 hit ‘Valerie’, ‘Call On Me’ topped the German and UK charts for many consecutive weeks in 2004. Prydz clearly had an ear for reimagining vintage hits, releasing a remake of Pink Floyd’s ‘Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2’ with ‘Proper Education’ in 2006.
But over the next six years, Prydz proved his ability at creating his own smash club-fillers, amassing into his 2012 debut album Eric Prydz presents Pryda, which featured the tracks ‘Allein’, ‘Mirage’ and ‘Shadows’.
In 2016, the Swedish DJ released Opus, whose title-track stirred a frenzy, with Four Tet’s Kieran Hebden urging Prydz him to let him remix it. His career has taken him from the clubs of Ibiza to the stages of Alexandra Palace, Madison Square Garden and Coachella. In February 2024, Prydz announced a special show in Wales’ Cardiff Castle on Saturday 29 June, with support from Enrico Sangiuliano, Anna, Layla Benitez, Cristoph and James Organ.
