Hot off the back of a sold-out 15,000-capacity show at Musgrave Park in Cork, The Saw Doctors are riding high on a wave of renewed acclaim and fan adoration. Their 2023 comeback was nothing short of spectacular, with packed-out shows in London, New York, and a massive homecoming in Tuam that marked their return to the stage after a five-year break.
Formed in Tuam, Co. Galway in the late 1980s, The Saw Doctors were discovered by Mike Scott of The Waterboys and quickly rose to prominence with the record-breaking single 'I Useta Lover', which spent nine weeks at number one in the Irish charts—outperforming both U2 and Sinéad O’Connor. Their blend of sharp lyrics, soaring melodies and Irish storytelling earned them a place in the hearts of fans worldwide.
Led by original members Davy Carton (vocals) and Leo Moran (guitar), the band’s current line-up includes Anthony Thistlethwaite (saxophone), Rickie O’Neill (drums), Pearse Doherty (bass), Kieran Duddy (keys), Noelie McDonnell and Tommy Carton (backing vocals). With a reputation for legendary live performances, The Saw Doctors have played to sold-out crowds across Ireland, the UK, and the US, including Glastonbury, T in the Park, and New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

Amazing band, seem to get better every time you see them.
Unbelievable and what a relief to see after the durge of the hot house flowers.
10/10 as always. Amazing gig in one of the best venues ever! Loved every minute of it
Seen The Saw Doctors a few time and this was the best ye! Absolutely fantastic. They were outstanding and the crowd was brilliant! All round a blimmin good night!
The boys from Tuam can still rock the night away. Great gig.
The Saw Doctors were on great form as usual. Every gig they put on is brilliant. The Queens Park Big Top was superb. While Simple Minds guests were getting soaked at Bellahouston Park, we were warm, dry, and entertained brilliantly. The wee tent with the deck chairs for the fans to stay dry before the gig was awesome. All 4 acts were excellent, Hothouse Flowers were magnificent, and the 16 songs the Saw Doctors played were their best numbers; Anthony Thistlewaite on the saxophone was absolutely brilliant, as always, and Daithi, Leo, Pearse and the rest of the band were on top form. A strict curfew at 10:30 reduced the set; but that was fine given the excellent standard of the support acts. Sharon Shannon came on and played the squeezebox during Joyce Country Ceilidh Band, and the gig ended on the usual high, with the bands cover version of The Monkees Daydream Believer, in the Hay Wrap mash up. A great day, it just goes too fast. Roll on the Christmas gigs at the Barrowland.
Great gig in the big top tent. The band were amazing one of the best ever gigs, atmosphere was electric.
Class craic. Outstanding as always. The atmosphere was incredible and they know how to put on a show. I've followed them for 25 years and to watch them perform on my doorstep was quality. Everyone was having the best time. Can't wait to see them again!
The bands back catalogue of a combination of foot stomping hand clapping numbers are interposed with soulful reflective songs which makes for a heady mix and brings out the best in a willing participating audience. Always great value .
Excellent as usual. Can't wait for Glasgow next year
